MOTU PCI-424 Card Driver for Windows
Thank you for choosing a MOTU PCI-424 audio interface. This README document contains additional information to supplement the PCI-424 System Manual.
Compatibility
The PCI-424 card is compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP. There are individual driver installers for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, so make sure that you are using the right one.
The drivers included in this installer package support WaveRT under Windows 7 and Windows Vista, the legacy Wave driver model for Windows XP and older DAW programs, ASIO 2.0, and GSIF 2.2 and later.
Installation
It is recommended that you remove the PCI-424 card from the computer before installing the drivers. Instructions for installing and removing the card can be found in the PCI-424 System Manual.
Here is an overview of the driver installation process:
- Turn on the computer, and log in to Windows. Double-click the SetupPCIAudio program to start the installer.
- Click the Next button to continue through the prompts. You must agree to the license agreement to continue.
- When then installer has finished, it should display a message to inform you that the software has been successfully installed. Click the Close button to close the installer program.
- Shut down the computer and install the PCI-424 card in an available PCI expansion slot in your computer.
Make sure that the PCI-424 card is seated properly in the slot. Most computer enclosures have a small screw or a latch that secures expansion cards to the chassis. We recommend using these so that the PCI-424 card does not move when connecting or disconnecting interfaces.
- Turn on the computer, log in to Windows, and then continue to the following section according to the Windows version you're using.
- If you are using Windows XP, the Windows Found New Hardware Wizard will open and prompt you to connect to Windows Update to search for driver software. Select "No, not this time," and then click the Next button. When prompted to choose whether to install drivers automatically or choose them from a list, select "Install automatically," and then click the Next button. If a warning message about Windows Logo testing appears, click "Continue anyway." When the Found New Hardware Wizard has completed, click the Finish button to close it. You will need to complete this process for each of the different driver types (Wave, MIDI, etc.). Afterwards, a notification message will appear that states that the new hardware is ready to use.
- If you are using Windows 7 or Windows Vista, a notification message will appear that says, "Installing device driver software." Windows will automatically associate the PCI-424 card with the appropriate drivers. When it is finished, the notification message will say, "Your devices are ready to use."
- Open the MOTU PCI Audio Console program to confirm that the PCI-424 card is working properly.
