Synchronizing Personal Information over Bluetooth

A number of phones and other Bluetooth devices provide access to contacts and other Personal Information Manager (PIM) data using Bluetooth. If the device supports access to PIM data over Bluetooth, a Data Synchronization group is available in the Bluetooth Device Operations and Settings window.

With Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software you can read contacts from your device and save them into a file for backup purpose, and write contacts from a file to the device (restore them from the backup file).

Supported profiles and roles:

For devices that have both SYNC and PBAP servers supported, access is allowed only to SYNC (as PBAP effectively is a subset of SYNC).

Backup and Restore Personal Contacts Information

Note: Only the complete contacts database can be backed up or restored on the device.

To start PIM data backup:

  1. Click Backup PIM Data with SYNC link, select the name of the contact backup file and click Save on the Save as File dialog.
  2. Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software begins the backup process.
The PIM backup progress indicator and completion message are displayed after the data is saved to selected file.
  3. To restore contacts, select Restore PIM Data with SYNC, select a previously saved source file for contacts, and click Open in the Open dialog.
Note: Service Restore PIM Data with SYNC is not available if the device does not support the SYNC profile.

Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software begins the restore process. The PIM restore progress indicator and completion message are displayed after the data is restored to the connected device.
